Keto Turkey Gobbler
A turkey gobbler sandwich is the ultimate sandwich made from your Thanksgiving leftovers. it might be the most amazing hot turkey sandwich you will ever eat. The problem, when you are eating low carb or keto, you can’t have all of those things that are typically used to make the sandwich. I have the solution for you to continue eating a healthy diet and enjoying this leftover turkey sandwich.
What is a Gobbler Sandwich?
Typically a gobbler sandwich is a sandwich that is made from the leftovers from Thanksgiving. It is 2 pieces of toasted bread with mayo, turkey, cranberry sauce and stuffing. Just like a typical Thanksgiving dinner, it is a carb loaded feast.
You might be thinking there is no way to make this keto, but there is, easily. We are using chaffles as the bread and to bring in the flavors of the stuffing. Turkey is already low carb approved. The sandwich is brought together by using low carb , sugar free cranberry sauce. You are going to get to enjoy everything about this keto Turkey Gobbler without an ounce of guilt or unhealthiness.
So it is just a Hot Turkey Sandwich?
No. A turkey sandwich is typically an open face sandwich that has sliced turkey, often lunchmeat style, Then the whole thing is topped with gravy.
So while a gobbler is often served hot and it has turkey on it, that is about where the similarities end.
What is a chaffle?
Chaffles are basically cheese waffles. They can be sweet or savory. The base of the chaffle is mozzarella cheese for a milder flavor, or ones that will be sweet, and cheddar cheese for a stronger flavor or a savory version. Then it is combined and placed inside of a small waffle maker. This cooks the ingredients together making a keto waffle that is then used for bread or as a dessert.
There are so many different ways to make chaffles but in this keto turkey gobbler I am using mushrooms and poultry seasoning to bring in the flavor of the stuffing and create the sandwich.

Can a Low Carb Gobbler be Made Ahead?
Technically the ingredients of the turkey sandwich is already made ahead because they are leftovers. You can also, technically make chaffles ahead too. But since they taste best when made fresh and only take a few minutes to make, it is the same amount of time if you make it from scratch or reheat it, so I prefer to make them fresh.
Is Cranberry Sauce Keto
Normally cranberry sauce is not something that is considered keto or low carb. It is sugar loaded. When you make your own sugar free cranberry sauce, you are controlling the ingredients, which means that you can use a sugar alternative, making it low carb.
Tips for Making the Best Keto Gobble Sandwich
Eat it hot or cold– While most people like to eat this keto warm or hot, you can also eat it cold. However you like it, this gobbler is going to be amazing.
Use thick cut turkey- Thick slices of turkey work best for this sandwich. When cutting the turkey, cut it thick and do not use shredded turkey.
Use sliced turkey. If you can use thick slices of turkey over shredded turkey, the sandwich will hold together better.
Warm or cold. You can heat up the stuffing and the turkey if you want a warm sandwich, or you can leave it cold the choice is up to you.
Use a thick bread. You can use any bread that you want to, however a thicker sliced bread will hold better when you are making the sandwich.
Change it up. It is easy to change up this sandwich to make it even better. Add iceberg lettuce or bibb lettuce. You can always add more cheese. Sandwiches and cheese are the perfect combination. Even though there is cheese in the chaffle, you can add a slice of cheddar or gruyere cheese. Did you make keto gravy for Thanksgiving? Add it over the turkey in the sandwich.
