Scallops are one of my favorite seafood dishes to make. They are easy to make, flavorful and they pair well with so many different easy side dishes that I can come up with a tasty meal with very little planning. Scallops cook quickly so they are great for a quick-to-make appetizer or main dish to serve at dinner time.
I love the lemon garlic and butter flavor combination paired with sea food. Lemon Garlic chicken is one of my favorite chicken recipes but nothing beats adding lemon and garlic to seafood. Lemon Garlic Shrimp and Lemon Garlic Tilapia are some of my go to easy seafood recipes to make.
When I was making dinner a few weeks ago I had scallops and had yet to figure out what exactly I wanted to do with them. Then my daughter asked me if we could have Lemon garlic shrimp during the week and I came up with this easy Air fryer scallops recipe that is similar to my lemon garlic shrimp recipe my whole family loves.

Lemon Garlic scallops make an awesome and easy seafood appetizer however they also make a great main dish. If you are wanting a full meal with the scallops as the main dish, a fresh-made salad and some veggies will round out a perfect meal.
Can I Use Frozen Scallops?
Yes you can! You will have to defrost them before cooking them but it is super easy to defrost frozen scallops. All you have to do is put the frozen scallops in a bowl of cold water for 20 minutes. You can also leave them in a covered bowl of cold water in the fridge over night to thaw them if you want to plan ahead.
Tips for Cooking Scallops in an Air Fryer
Use Sea Scallops. When you are making this lemon garlic scallop recipe you want to use sea scallops. Bay scallops are much smaller then sea scallops so it is important to use the bigger scallops.
Wash and dry. You want the Scallops to be dried off when you put them into the bowl with the olive oil and the spices.
Flip half way thru. I found the Scallops cooked best when at the 5 minute mark I flipped them over and finished cooking them.
Read your instructions. Some air fryers will require you to use cooking spray when you are using them, others don’t so be sure to check the specific directions for yours.

If you don’t have either of them you can use the air fryer you have, but if you are looking to get started with cooking food in an air fryer then our suggestion is that you want to get one of those.
Air Fried Lemon Garlic Scallops Ingredients
- 1 pound scallops
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1/4 cup butter, unsalted
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
How to Make Air Fried Lemon Garlic Scallops
Pat the scallops dry and place them in a small mixing bowl toss them with olive oil, garlic, salt, and pepper until well coated. Let the scallops sit for about 3-4 minutes to absorb the flavors.
Place them in a basket of your Air fryer. Set the air fryer to 400° for 10 minutes, flipping the scallops halfway through.
Remove the scallops from the air fryer and place them into a small mixing bowl drizzle the butter and lemon juice over them and stir until well coated.
Serve alone as an appetizer, as a main dish or over zoodles.
