Tips for Making Bacon in the Air Fryer
Do not over crowd. The bacon is going to shrink like any other cooking method but you want the air to be able to flow while it is cooking. Depending on the size of your air fryer you may want to cut your pieces of bacon in half.
Clean your air fryer pan after each batch of bacon. If you are making more bacon after the first batch, be sure to drain the grease from the first batch of bacon before adding in more uncooked bacon.
Keep an eye on it. Especially the first time you are making it. Keep an eye on how it is cooking to make sure you don’t end up burning it.
Drain on a paper towel. When it is done cooking, place on a paper towel lined plate and let and excess grease drain off.
How long do you cook bacon in the Air Fryer?
Depending on the cut of your bacon and how crispy you want it will depend on how long it needs to cook in the air fryer. When you are cooking the bacon you can check it at any point to see how well done it is. The cook times can differ a bit depending on the brand of Air Fryer you are using.
Crispy bacon. Cook for 13 minutes for thin bacon and 15 minutes for thick-cut bacon.
Slightly Crispy bacon. Cook for 8 minutes for thin bacon and 11 minutes for thick-cut bacon.
How much bacon can I cook at a time in an Air Fryer?
This is going to depend on how big your air fryer is. If you have a larger one you will be able to fit more bacon then in a smaller one.
How to Clean Air Fryer After cooking bacon
Allow the air fryer to cool slightly, pour the bacon grease into a container to save for cooking later or discard. Allow the air fryer to cool completely and then wipe the pan clean and make sure you remove all of the grease. Once the grease is cleaned out wash as normal.
How to avoid smoke in the air fryer when cooking bacon
Sometimes you will end up with a small amount of smoke from the air fryer depending on your brand when you cook bacon in it. This is because of the bacon grease and hitting the smoke point temperature of bacon grease. If this happens to you there are a few ways too avoid it.
Add water to the lower pan of your air fryer. The bacon grease will mix with the water and will keep the grease from smoking.
Add a piece of bread to the lower pan of the air fryer. The bread will absorb the bacon grease and help keep it from smoking.
