How to Store a Cheese Ball
After you make your low carb cheeseball, if you are not going to serve it right away wrap it tightly in plastic wrap and store it in the fridge. It is important that you wrap it tightly to keep it from spoiling quickly while being stored in the fridge. It also needs to be wrapped tightly to keep any moisture from getting to the cheese while it is being stored in the fridge.
How long will a cheese ball last?
This cheese ball recipe will last for 3-4 days in the fridge as long as it is wrapped properly. It is best to store it in the back of the fridge or in one of the fridge drawers so that is is not near the temperature changes that happen when you open the refrigerator door.
Can you Freeze a Cheese ball?
Yes! If you want to make a cheese ball ahead of time and then freeze it you can! All you have to do to freeze a cheese ball is prep everything and follow all of the recipe steps except for the seasoning coating.
Then wrap the ball tightly in 2 layers of plastic wrap and then one layer of tin foil. Then place the ball in the freezer. It will last in the freezer for up to 3 months.
When you are ready to serve, remove it from the freezer the day before you want to serve it.
Once it is defrosted roll it in the seasoning toppings you are putting on it and then serve as if you made it fresh.
What is a cheese ball made of?
A mixture of creamy cream cheese, shredded cheese whipped together and then different seasoning and addins to make it amazing.
For this recipe we use cheddar cheese and bacon as the addins along with some garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce and green onions. Then the ball is coated in a flavor seasoning of your choice, for us and this recipe we use everything bagel seasoning.
Everything bagel cheese ball Ingredients
- 16 ounces cream cheese
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup green onions
- 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 4 strips of bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 1/2 cup everything bagel seasoning
How to Make Everything bagel cheese ball
Remove the cream cheese from the fridge to soften a little bit.
While the cream cheese is softening cook the bacon. You can use whichever method is your preferred, depending on what I am doing there are times I cook it in the oven and other times I cook it on the stove.
Once the bacon is cooked, place it on a paper towel lined plate to drain the grease off.
In the bowl of a stand mixer cream the cream cheese and mayonnaise together until there are no lumps. If you do not have a stand mixer you can use a bowl with a hand mixer, just be sure to hold tight to the bowl while you are mixing everything.
Once the cream cheese and mayo mixture is fluffy and creamy, stir in the shredded cheddar cheese, green onions, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and cooked bacon, just until combined.
Lay down two sheets of plastic wrap onto the counter or a cutting board. Scoop the cheese mixture into the center of the plastic.
Wrap the keto cheeseball mixture up and gently form the mixtures into a ball shape.
Once it is in the ball shape that you want, place into the refrigerator for at least an hour, keeping it wrapped in the plastic wrap.
Pour the everything bagel seasoning onto a small plate. Unwrap the cheese ball and roll the cheese ball into the seasoning until it is completely covered.
Serve with your favorite vegetables or crackers.
