Hot Dogs with Pickle Keto Hot Dog Bun
Keto Hot dogs on a pickle bun is my solution to a low carb hot dog bun. Yes there are tons of recipes online for making homemade keto hot dog rolls but to be honest the amount of work that goes into making a low carb hot dog roll at home is not something I have the patience for.
I tested out using a sandwich bread chaffle and it worked great. However recently I made a Tuna Sandwich with a pickle and oh yum! Then I thought to myself, this would be amazing with a hot dog! I like pickles on my hot dog, and normally I eat a hot dog with pickles, mustard and diced onions.
It worked perfectly when I used a pickle as my low carb hot dog bun, and the flavor combo pickle and hot dog is amazing normally, but even better when you use a pickle as a bun.

Tips for Making Hot dog bun with a pickle
You need to buy the pickles that come in the large jar that will be about the size of a hot dog. Hengstenberg Traditional German Barrel Pickles, Best Maid Sour Pickles, Heinz Genuine Whole Dill Pickles, McClure’s Garlic Dill Pickles and Vlasic Kosher Dill Whole Pickles will all work well.
Use a sharp knife and cut the pickle slowly so you do not cut thru the whole pickle.
How to Cook a Hot dog
There are a few different ways that you can cook hot dogs. My preferred way is on the grill.
How to Grill Hot Dogs
Spray the grill with non stick cooking spray.
Preheat the grill for 10-15 minutes, once the grill is heated turn the heat to medium for regular hot dogs and medium low for lower fat content hot dogs.
Lay the hot dogs horizontal on the grill.
Using tongs roll the hot dogs over until each hot dog has grill marks and the end of the hot dog starts to split.
Depending on the size of the hot dog and your grill it will take between 5 and 15 minutes to grill hot dogs.
How to Pan Fry Hot Dogs
In a medium sized skillet or frying pan cover the service with half an inch of water.
Turn the heat to medium high and heat the pan until the water starts to boil off.
Add the hot dogs to the skillet and roll them frequently to get them browned on all sides.
