The whites of the egg are firm and cooked all the way thru but the inside has slightly runny yolks. The egg whites are cooked through and the inside yolk is soft and runny. The texture of the yolk is similar to jam and has a jammy texture.

Jammy eggs are also known as 7 minute eggs because the cooking time for the eggs is just 7 minutes in the boiling water.
Is Eating Jammy Eggs Safe?
When you are wondering if soft boiled eggs are safe to eat, it falls into the same category as dippy eggs. Soft boiled eggs are safe to eat as they are cooked with heat. I do suggest using farm fresh eggs over store bought eggs if possible.
Can I make the eggs have runnier yolks?
If you want the egg yolks to be runnier then you will want to shorten the cook times. I do not suggest cooking the eggs for less than 5 and half minutes. In our house the perfect egg is cooked for the full 7 minutes. We prefer to have jammy yolks over a more liquidy yolk that comes with a shorter cook time.

I like to serve them with cauliflower hash browns, air fryer bacon and some low carb fruit as my sides. Add in some keto coffee, like Low carb Iced Caramel Macchiato, keto dalgona coffee or bullet coffee and you have a complete breakfast that is filling and delicious!

Peel the eggs but do not cut them until you are ready to eat them. Place the jammy eggs in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
Can I freeze 7 minute eggs?
While you can freeze the eggs, I do not recommend it. The texture changes and it will not be the same. I do not recommend freezing jammy eggs.
How to Peel Jammy Eggs
After the cooked eggs have sat in the ice water remove them when they are cool enough to handle. Then crack a cooked egg one at a time, by tapping the egg shell with a gentle tap on the counter or the side of a bowl and peel the shell off of the egg. Discard the egg shell.

How to Make Jammy Eggs
Bring a pot of water to a boil on the stove over high heat.
Once the water is boiling add the eggs to the boiling water. Be sure that you have only a single layer of eggs in the pot. You do not want to have to many eggs at once.
Boil the eggs for 5-7 minutes.
Set up a large bowl of ice water – 4 cups cold water and 2 cups of ice in the bowl.
Remove the cooked eggs with a slotted spoon from the hot boiling water and transfer eggs into the ice water.
Cool for 20-30 seconds if you want to enjoy them right away or cool completely if you want to eat them later.
Peel the eggs and then slice them in half with a knife.
