Keto Chocolate Covered Bacon
For years I have been making brown sugar bacon. The combination of sweet from the brown sugar and the salty from the bacon is a flavor combination that I love. However brown sugar is so not low carb and I did not have any brown sugar swerve on hand but I wanted that sweet and salty combination of chocolate and sweet.
I looked in the pantry and had a bag of Lily’s Chocolate chips. My brain got to thinking and I thought why not cover the bacon with chocolate. Boy am I glad that I did it because sugar-free chocolate covered bacon is AMAZING!

Tips for Oven-Baked Bacon
When you are making bacon to cover in chocolate it is important that you bake it. Normally when I make bacon I cook it in a skillet on the stove however I have found it shrivels and gets to crinkly and I like to make sure I am getting the chocolate in all the right places when I am dipping my bacon in chocolate.
Use a baking rack. Do not place bacon right on to a baking sheet, be sure that you have a baking rack placed on a baking sheet so that when the bacon is cooking, the fat drippings drain off.
Let bacon cool. Be sure to let the bacon cool completely before dipping it in the melted chocolate.
Do not shorten the cool time in the fridge. It is important to keep the bacon in the fridge for the full 30 minutes to let the chocolate harden.
Chocolate Covered Bacon Toppings
Normally when I make chocolate covered bacon I sprinkle coarse salt or flaked salt, however there are endless possibilities to change up the flavors and make sugar free chocolate covered bacon even more amazing by adding other toppings after you have dipped the bacon in the melted chocolate.
- chopped pistachios
- red pepper flakes
- chopped almonds
- cayenne pepper

How to Make Keto Chocolate Covered Bacon
Preheat oven to 400°
Lay the bacon out onto a broiler pan or on a rack inside of a larger pan. A great tip is to line the pan underneath with aluminum foil for easy cleanup.
Bake until it’s crispy about 20-25 minutes.
Transfer the bacon onto a plate with paper towels to help absorbs some excess fat.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Place the sugar-free chocolate chips in a microwave-safe mixing bowl. Microwave in 30-second increments until completely melted, making sure it doesn’t burn.
Dip bacon, one piece at a time into the melted chocolate making sure to leave a small end undipped to be able to hold it, then place on baking pan lined with parchment paper.
Once you have dipped all of the bacon in the melted chocolate, place the tray of bacon in the fridge.
If you are wanting to add coarse salt, you will want to sprinkle it on here.
Let the chocolate covered bacon sit for 30 minutes in the fridge to cool and have chocolate harden.
Remove them from the sheet pan and store in an airtight container in the fridge.
