What if I Can’t Get Bulk Turkey?
Some people have trouble finding the loose bulk turkey sausage. If you have trouble finding it, you can use turkey that comes in the casing. Look for raw sausage and squeeze it out of the casing so you can shape it into patties. You can also use any type of breakfast sausage if you are not a fan of turkey.
What if I Want Bread
So with this keto sausage egg and cheese sandwich, the sausage is the bread substitute. But I know for some people, that just isn’t enough. In that case, you have options. Some of my favorite bread substitutes and keto friendly breads are 90 Second Microwavable Low Carb Keto Bread or use one the awesome chaffle recipes, (Best Chaffle Recipes (Savory + Sweet) ), Keto Cheddar biscuits or keto biscuits to make your keto breakfast sandwich.
How to Store Keto Sandwiches When Making them in advance
You can make these sandwiches ahead of time and then reheat them when you’re ready to eat. I like to make a batch on the weekend and then reheat them during the week for a quick and easy breakfast. Just store them in the fridge and they will keep for 3-4 days.
To reheat, just pop them in the microwave for 30-60 seconds or until heated through. You can also reheat them in a skillet over medium heat.
Can I freeze Keto Breakfast Sandwiches?
Yes! If you are wanting to make a large batch of breakfast sandwiches so you have lots of easy breakfasts for grab and go you can meal prep and double or triple the batch and then freeze them.
How to freeze Keto Sausage egg and cheese breakfast sandwiches
Prepare the breakfast sandwiches according to the recipe directions. Then places them on a baking sheet in a single layer and place the baking sheet in the freezer for 2 hours. Once the breakfast sandwiches are frozen, remove them from the baking sheet and wrap each on in plastic wrap. Then place the wrapped sandwiches into a gallon size freezer bag and label the bag with the date and store in the freezer. They will keep in the freezer for up to 3 months.
To reheat remove from the freezer the night before and place into the fridge. The reheat in the microwave wave in the morning. If you are removing them right from the freezer you can reheat them in the microwave also, it will just take longer, mine normally takes 2 minutes and 30 seconds to reheat from frozen.
Tips & Variations of this recipe
Add veggies. You could also add some avocado or guacamole for an extra boost of healthy fats. If you want to add some more veggies to your sandwich, feel free. Sautéed mushrooms, onions, and peppers would be a great addition.
Change up the meat. I like to use ground turkey but you can also use ground pork sausage.
Change up the cheese. And if you’re feeling really adventurous, you could try adding different cheese. Besides cheddar cheese, you can also try Swiss, Gruyere, American cheese, parmesan cheese, or Gouda. I like shredding my own cheese because then I avoid any additives, but you can use preshredded cheese. You can also use a slice of cheese instead of shredded cheese if you want to.
Use a keto biscuit. You can use Keto Cheddar biscuits or keto biscuits or 90 second bread for bread if you want to have something to replace the English muffins on a traditional sausage egg and cheese sandwich.
Add more meat. If you want to add more meat you can add slices of bacon to these easy keto breakfast sandwiches. You can also add slices of Canadian bacon if you want to.
Change up the eggs. I like having fried eggs on my breakfast sandwiches, but you can make a scrambled egg patty, or an over easy egg if you want to.
Make eggs evenly shaped. If you want to have eggs all the same size and shape it is best to use an egg rings or mason jar lids to place the egg into when cooking on the pan. I am not picky about the eggs being perfect on my sandwich so I just let them be the shape that they are.
Add some spice. If you want some spice add some red pepper flakes to the sausage before making the sausage patties.

Add 2 teaspoons olive oil to a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat.
Once hot, add the sausage patties and turn the heat down to medium.
Cook until the meat is fully cooked, about 3 to 5 minutes per side, flipping once. Drape a piece of foil over the top after you flip them while they cook on the second side. Remove from the pan and place on a paper towel lined plate.
Add the remaining 2 teaspoons of olive oil to the nonstick skillet and turn the heat to medium-high heat.
Once hot, crack each egg into the skillet and cook until set on the first side, about 1 to 2 minutes.
Flip each fried egg and sprinkle the cheddar cheese on top, drape a piece of foil over the top, and cook for 30 seconds. Turn off the heat and let the eggs sit (covered with foil) until the cheese is melted, about 1 minute.
To assemble the sandwiches, put 1 sausage patty on a plate. Top it with 1 cooked egg and sprinkle scallion on top if desired. Put 1 turkey sausage patty on top.
