Low Carb Keto Swedish Meatballs
Traditional Swedish meatballs have been a staple in our house for as long as I can remember. Tender and juicy meatballs with a creamy gravy that is easy to make and full of flavor. However, when I went low carb and started the Keto diet, I needed to come up with a keto meatball recipe to replace our love for Swedish meatballs.
I first started making swedish meatballs for dinner years ago when Tom and I first got married and a friend of mine gave me her recipe. It was one of the first recipes I ever learned to cook and it was a staple in our house for a very long time. I was not willing to give up this comfort food recipe so the solution was to come up with a keto recipe to replace my traditional Swedish meatballs recipe that my whole family loves.
This keto Swedish meatball recipe’s ingredients are simple, there is no flour of any type, including coconut or almond flour and you still end up with perfect tender meatballs that make this low carb recipe one of our favorite keto comfort foods.
Many times Swedish meatballs are served as an appetizer, however, I have found that they make for an amazingly easy dinner using ground beef.
What are Swedish Meatballs
Swedish meatballs are a tasty homemade meatball dish that has a creamy sauce. They are similar to Italian meatballs but traditionally are smaller and use different spices. The cream sauce that is poured on top of them is savory and rich in flavor. If you love the Ikea meatballs, then you are sure to love this keto meatballs recipe with a delicious creamy sauce! It is always a meal in our house that everyone clears their plates!

How to serve Swedish meatballs
I like to serve keto Swedish meatballs over zucchini noodles, cauliflower mash, or over cauliflower rice to make a full meal if I am making them for a weeknight meal. You can also make the meatballs and top them with the sauce and serve them with your favorite low carb side dishes. If I am making them for a family get together then I serve them as an appetizer with toothpicks.
What to Serve with Swedish Meatballs
There are lots of things that pair well with this low carb and keto Swedish meatballs recipe. Before going low carb/Keto I always had mashed potatoes, pasta and a veggie, most of the time broccoli. However when I went low carb and Keto that meant I had to change what I normally enjoyed with them.
For side dishes, we have mashed cauliflower, and a veggie most of the time. If you are looking for other side dish recipes that go well with swedish meatballs, check out a few of our other favorites.
