So, if you are looking for the best tasting and best priced asparagus, look for it during those months.

When selecting asparagus, look for spears that are firm and have tight tips. Avoid spears that are limp or have discolored tips. Look for bright green spears that often have white towards the base of the stalk. When looking at the thin stalks verses thick stalks, there is no difference in flavor. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil.
Rinse the asparagus and then trim asparagus to get the rough ends off the asparagus stalks.
Place the asparagus in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet lined with foil.
Drizzle the asparagus with the olive oil. Sprinkle the asparagus with salt and pepper to taste.
Place in the oven for 10 minutes.
Sprinkle with the cheese and place back in the oven for 5 minutes or until they are tender.
